Wow! Let's sweeten it...but first, follow this sugar prep list before the show.
Make sure it's safe to sweeten your body.
If you have delicate skin, I recommend doing a spot test first.
Make sure your skin is clean, dry and at room temperature.
Wash your body thoroughly of any moisturizers and oils and wait about 10 minutes before starting to apply sugar.
TIP: Exfoliate 48 hours before applying sugar to make sure your skin is clean.
Check hair length + cut if necessary.
If your hair is too long to know which direction it's growing in (usually more than 1/4″), get some electric clippers with a shield and cut your hair short enough to see how it looks naturally.
NOTE: If your hair is too long, you will feel a tug during application, which will feel like a pinch. It's not fun.
Make sure you are in a cool room with the AC working.
Sugarpaste is very demanding and requires a cold room or else it will melt (literally). Try to have a fan close to you in the first few sessions
Set up your space.
I recommend having a towel to sit on, a platter to set down the applicator or used wax, and a damp washcloth to help with sticky hands.
Play with your sugar! Be comfortable.
Don't rush through this step - sweetening sounds simple in the video, but controlling sugar can be very tricky at first. Feeling the sugar without the pressure of waxing will make you less nervous and sweaty (the kiss of death to sweeten) once you start.

It's time to sweeten it up. Follow this step-by-step visual guide to get the best sweetening experience. Or just try it... that's cool too.
How much time?
Give yourself 30-45 minutes
Frequency:
Every 3-4 weeks consistently (regular addition of sugar = less discomfort)
Use Sugardoh Body Powder to absorb additional moisture, sweat and body oil in your arms.
This will make the sugar stick to the skin like magic. You can also use baby powder, cornstarch, arrowroot powder, or oatmeal.
Dig the paste using your hand or a metal spoon and pick up a golf ball-sized amount of sugar paste.
The sugar will be very hard at first and will heat up as you continue to work with it.
Check the direction of your hair's growth. This will dictate how you apply the sugar.
Usually, the hair on the arms grows away from the body, wrapping around the arm like a candy cane stripe.
Place the paste on the straight edge of your applicator.
Make a mound of sugar on the STRAIGHT edge of your applicator. Skip this step if using your hands as an applicator.
Start with the wrist and work your way up.
You should start each scoop in a non-hair spot and shape into the hairy area.
Remove wax against hair growth.
Always using the applicator edge (or fingers) perpendicular to the arm. Spread the sugar 1 to 3 times in an even application, lifting after each application. As a beginner, start with a 2-inch section and build up from there. For more information on the excavation technique, click here.
Quick break and hinge.
Fold the applicator down, parallel to the leg. Make sure you have some wax at the end of your application.
FAST swipe your finger down in the direction of hair growth.
Keep the applicator as close to the skin as possible, almost grazing the tip of the skin as you flick. If you lift the applicator away from your body, you will break the sugar connection (and you don't want that). Imagine taking rubber crumbs off a table.
Try using the accordion fold.
If you are sweetening in longer strips, fold the sugar into an accordion shape after each extraction.
Continue by section using the same piece of sugar.
If the sugar is too sticky or hard, let it cool on the side and/or get a new piece. If you get sweaty, reapply the powder. Use the cloth strip for sticky sections that just won't come off.
Go to detailed work.
Unlike waxing, applying sugar is so gentle on your skin that you can swipe the same area over and over to get rid of stubborn hair that doesn't want to leave the house. Use your hands or the corner of the applicator.
Wash off residual sugar with warm water.
When finished, use water to clean!
