CHINESE SILK

China is the cradle of silk. Sericulture has a history of over 6,000 years. Though initially reserved for Chinese royalty, silk gradually spread throughout the rest of the world along the Silk Road. The best is still made by artisans in this 'City of Silk', using secret methods.

Silk originated in ancient China. All our silk fabrics are imported from Suzhou, the famous silk city in China. Silk's price reflects its manufacturing difficulty, handling issues and controls over suppliers' production.

Our silk is sourced from the same factory that supplies Max Mara, Alexander Wang and other luxury brands. They produce the cocoon strands and weave them in-house to ensure the quality is consistent, monitoring every vital process.

We use Silk Crepe de Chine a lot. It is known for having a beautiful drape. Sometimes we sand the fabric to get a matte finish based on different designs.

Fabric care

Silk responds well to dry cleaning. Cleaning silk at home can result in shrinkage, weakness, and considerable fading.

Oxygen and chlorine bleaches can damage paint or other finishes applied to fabric. Silk fabrics can be damaged if you rub them with a stain remover while they are wet.

High heat damages natural fibers. The silk cloth must be hung or laid out to dry. if you think ironing is necessary, avoid high temperatures. Use a hot iron while the Silk product is still slightly damp and you will get the best results.

JAPANESE COTTON

For our Japanese cotton, we work with a fabric supplier specializing in the production of a special fabric called Banshu - ori. Japanese cotton has been subjected to a special production method that leads to a natural texture, abundant color and a pleasant feel. They produce Banshu-ori in a traditional way, which is very rare in Japan today.

We use extra long staple cotton for our Bansu ori fabric. The longer the staple, the better the cotton.

For Japanese Banshu Ori fabric, the yarns are dyed before being woven. This results in smooth textures and deep colors.

Extra long fibers mean super durable and pilling resistant cotton. It also creates incredibly soft cotton.

Fabric care

It's actually machine washable, but be sure to set your machine to a gentle setting, using cool water and a mild detergent. As it is a natural product, it responds better to light and natural cleaning products.

Fabric Care

Our luxurious merino wool yarn is really easy to care for. Unlike a lot of other wool, our Italian merino wool is machine cold washable-(need to use knit/delicate cycle to prevent shrinkage and no mix warm + cold water during washing)

Use tool like Sweater Comb for de-pilling. Simply glide the screen across the pilled areas and it will pick up loose fibers and gather the yarn that detaches after friction and wearing. Check out How to do it here. Get a sweater stone here.

High heat hurts Natural Fibers. Place the sweater on a rack and reshape it as much as possible. Keep it away from sunlight and let it air-dry.
